What is animation?

Animation is a process which creates an illusion by moving still pictures. Images, designs, layouts are drawn which are integrated into multimedia and gaming products. Along with the hand drawing, nowadays many animators create Computer Generated Imagery (CGI).


The rapid succession of sequential images that differ slightly from each other creates the effect of animation, basically, it creates the illusion of motion pictures in general.

The one who creates an animation is known as an animator. They use graphics software for these effects. In this world, videos are considered to be a powerful and important medium of communication. Adding animation to videos has proved to done wonder. Whether advertisements, awareness, games or movies, the animation is used in everything.

Types of Animation

3D Animation

Animation is a process which creates an illusion by moving still pictures. Images, designs, layouts are drawn which are integrated into multimedia and gaming products.3D Animation is digitally modeled by the use of Computer program and then fitted with a skeletal structure that can be used to move the models. The procedure of creating 3D Animation is categorized into 3 main parts such as modeling, layout and animation, and rendering.

Software used for generating 3D Animation is Autodesk Maya, Houdini, Blender, Cinema 4D, ZBrush.

2D Animation is a form of animation which focuses on creating movement in two-dimensional environments by using computer programs like Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Flash, TV Paint and Cel Action.2D Animation is a form of animation which focuses on creating movement in two-dimensional environments by using computer programs like Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Flash, TV Paint and Cel Action. This form of animation is often considered as Traditional Animation, as the object can only move up and down, right and left.

Digital 2D Animation process has become very popular and prominent.

Stop Motion Animation is a process where objects are moved a little bit and then photographing them frame by frame so that when the series of frames is played back on a continuous sequence they will give the illusion of movement on the screen.

Unlike other forms of animation, Motion Graphic is the creation of animated graphic design. It is quite different from other forms of animation. This form is a way to communicate with the viewer, by adding music and text they can give us a message.

Motion Graphic is usually created for commercial or promotional purposes.
